Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue is made up of 146 dedicated men and women who strive to make our community safer. Our team responds to approximately 7500 incidents a year, providing an all-hazards approach to emergency services on the Island. That means when you call for help, our firefighters are trained and equipped to handle virtually any problem you may have. Fire Rescue staffs paramedics who are crosstrained as firefighters to provide high-quality emergency medical services to the community. In addition to fire suppression and motor vehicle extrication, we have specialized personnel trained as hazardous materials and rescue technicians to handle complex incidents that occur in our community. The department also coordinates Emergency Management activities including natural disasters and other types of emergency preparedness.
